About Our Pastors
Pastor Greg and Glenna Mayhorn came to Central Virginia in late summer of 1990 with their two children,
Jennifer and Daniel, to take the pastorate of Freedom Word Church — a small group of believers in need
of pastoral leadership and a fresh vision for the future. From the beginning, Pastor Greg believed in placing a strong emphasis on teaching, worship, and the move of the Holy Spirit. Through growth and blessing, the church relocated and built a new sanctuary in 2004. In late 2014, Pastor Greg published his first book,
Tongues: Speaking from the Spiritual Dimension.
Today, the ministry continues to grow as Pastor Greg remains committed to the vision
and the future is more exciting than ever!

Greg Mayhorn
Senior Pastor
Pastor Greg is the senior pastor and strongly believes in the works of Jesus Christ and working in unity with the Holy Spirit. He oversees many of the overall functions in the ministry and offers spiritual guidance to those in need.

Jack Adams
Men's Ministry Lead
Jack is our Men's Ministry Lead.
He also serves as an usher and is a member of our Pastoral Care Team.

Derrick Darden
Pastoral Care & Ushers Team Lead
Derrick is our team lead over the Usher/Greeter Team and is responsible for directing and coordinating the Helps Department. He also is the lead of our Pastoral Care Team.
Jason Greene
Financial Ministry Lead
Jason is the church treasurer and oversees the financial side of our ministry.

Deana Greene
Assistant Pastoral Care Team Lead
Deana assists in leading and organizing the Pastoral Care Team. She also serves as a Youth Teacher in our Faith Walkers Class.
Garrison Greene
Assistant Music Ministry Director
Garrison is the assistant director over the Music Ministry, with a focus on musicianship.
Hannah Greene
Children & Youth Ministry Director
Hannah is the director of our Children & Youth Ministry.
She also serves on our Praise & Worship Team as a vocalist.

Jeremy Marcum
Facilities Manager
Jeremy manages the church facilities to maintain a high level of cleanliness and function. He also oversees the sound production and team scheduling.
Tywanna Marcum
Senior Office Administrator
Tywanna handles all the clerical needs of the church.
She also is co-lead of the Events Team.

Nicholas Martinez
Music Ministry Director
Nick oversees all aspects of our praise and worship ministry and works closely with those supporting music through Audio and Visual Media.
He is an adjunct professor at Liberty University.

Melany Smith
Media & Communications Director
Melany is responsible for managing all the visual aspects of our ministry both here in the building and online.
She also serves on our Praise & Worship Team as a vocalist and as a Youth Teacher in our Kids4Christ Class.
